Interior of the premises of the Yakutsk International Airport named after Platon Oyunsky.

Yakutsk, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)

Platon Oyunsky Yakutsk Airport is one of the largest airports in Siberia and the Russian Far East. More than 1.5 million passengers pass through it annually. The airport is located 7 km from the center of Yakutsk.

The design project is a new look at the interiors of Yakutsk Airport and covers several spaces, including the main lounges, mother and child rooms, offices and public bathrooms.

The inspiration for the look was the Yakut nature and housing arrangement of the local people. The project was also a continuation of the previously laid idea of the project author Nikolaev I.A. However, in contrast to standard methods such as patterns, ornaments and sargae, the work represents a modern and minimalist style. The image of the way of life of ancient Yakuts, which consists in the gradation of the valley-farmstead-hearth, was taken as the basis of the project concept.

Registration area "Valley"

The image of the registration zone symbolizes a valley. Yakut settlements in the past were mainly in alaas (valleys). An alaas is a clearing, always surrounded by forest and in most cases has a lake from which the inhabitants obtained sustenance. If the "clean zone" is a farmstead, this zone becomes a valley, in which that very farmstead is located, and to get there, accordingly, one must cross the valley.

We tried to convey nature with a lot of greenery (mostly artificial), the projected frieze represents the Myraans (hills). The ceiling view is inspired by the sky with clouds through which the sun shines.

Clean zone "Podvorye"

The idea of designing the waiting area for departing passengers is based on the concept of a traditional Yakut backyard, which was a private area closed to outsiders. This corresponds to the functional role of the "clean zone" of the airport, where one can enter only for a specific purpose and destination. Architectural elements in this zone are inspired by the forms of traditional Yakut dwellings, and the ceiling design symbolizes the Northern Lights, one of Yakutia's main attractions.

Business Lounge

One of the indispensable elements of the airport infrastructure is the business lounge, where travelers and businessmen can relax and unwind before departure, as well as spend time productively and efficiently.

The business lounge is equipped with modern furniture that combines comfort and ergonomics. Thus, travelers can get cozy in comfortable armchairs and enjoy reading magazines or watching TV programs. In addition, there are special areas for negotiations and working with laptops. Privacy and concentration in such a space are fully ensured.

Offices

The offices are designed in a modern style and are spacious and functional spaces designed for comfortable work and creative efficiency.

The typical offices use colors according to the airport brandbook and fully reflect modern trends in office design.

The furniture in the office is characterized by modern design and comfort. Stylish work desks and comfortable chairs provide maximum convenience during work. All furniture elements are made of high quality materials, which gives the office elegance and prestige.

Mother and child room

Mother and child room is made in the style of modern Scandinavian design. This style is characterized by the use of light shades and minimalist forms. The interior is dominated by cold colors - white, gray and blue.

The main accent is made on the wallpaper in blue tones with small white patterns, which give the room tenderness and lightness. The furniture is made in a minimalist style. The beds for mother and child are made of natural wood, which creates a feeling of warmth and coziness. On the beds there are white pillows and blankets, which give the room clean and freshness.
